Hailey is TWO!
September 1st was Hailey's second birthday! She had a joint party with her cousin Zachariah who turned 4 on August 31st. We had a great time celebrating Hailey and Zachariah. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us and a special thanks to you grandparents for helping with food! =)

The night of Hailey's actual birthday we had a small celebration at home and then went out for an ice cream treat.

Our baby is such a big girl already! She recently had her two year check-up and she's growing great. She has finally made her way up the charts, well a little bit, she now weighs 24 lb 6oz (20th percentile), and she is 2' 10" tall (56th percentile). The night of her birthday Daddy wanted switch Hailey to her big girl bed. The rule around here is once you're in a big girl bed no more pacifiers. So she slept her first night without a paci... She did so much better than I expected. We have been paci free for almost a week now and she does fine in her big girl bed. Bye-bye baby Hailey hello terrible twos. ; )

Thank you so.o.o.o. much for sharing these fun times. They are both growing up so fast. Both The events, and the photos and narrative bring so much joy to those who were there and many others who were not able to be.

We take out the NG tube and look what happens! Before anyone gets too excited her tube was not removed for good. =( Kevin and I were trying to fix the tape that holds the tube in place and had a difficult time, to make a long story short we took the tube out and took the opportunity to snap some adorable pictures. Food update: The new formula didn't work, the first try made her vomit so we scratched that plan. Now we're back to straight breast milk and we're working on increasing her volumes again. Right now we're up to 78cc and we're moving back up to 80cc tonight. So far she is tolerating it very well. I think her tummy is ready for the 80cc it just needed more time to stretch naturally. She is also continuing to increase her oral intake. Right now she is averaging 30 cc from breastfeeding (YEAH Taylor!) last night she even took a whopping 50cc! 8/8/06 (1:00 pm) - The rollercoaster continues... Taylor had some difficulties as she tried to adjust to breathing without the ventilator. They tried a couple of different treatment options with some success and eventually the got her carbon dioxide levels to fall, but not far enough. In order to keep her condition from getting worse and her body from stressing out even more (giving things a chance to affect her heart) they put her back on the ventilator. She is resting confortably now and the stress levels for Tabitha and I have decreased substantially. The nurse assured us that even though this attempt was not successful in weaning her from the ventilator we should not view it as a failure. She will need a couple of days to recover and relax and then they will try to do it again. They learned some things about her body and reactions to the procedure that give them information on how to modify the procedure next time to increase the chances for success. 8/21/06 - Taylor had another ultrasound today to look at her liver. Her bilirubin levels had dropped but they recently noticed they are starting to go back up and they aren't sure why! Her feeding volumes are back up to 75cc - so far so good, but she always starts off good. Next feeding we are going to go back to fortifying the breast milk with a different formula to see how she tolerates that. If this plan fails our back up is to try feeding her every 2 hours with smaller quantities instead of every 3 like we're doing now.
