Happy Hollow and Happy Birthday On Saturday we visited the San Jose zoo with our friends Drew, Heather, and Clara (Drew and Heather went to UPS with Kevin and recently moved to Ben Lomond, about 25 minutes away from our house in Santa Cruz, so we've had the pleasure of reconnecting with them. They have helped us plug into community here by inviting us to their church, Vintage Faith). The zoo had been closed for almost 2 years for a big renovation. Saturday was opening day and it was packed! Despite the crowds we had a wonderful time. The weather was perfect-sunny and mid 70s. Clara, Taylor, and Hailey Our outing was inspired by Clara's 2nd birthday which is next weekend. Our family is headed home on Wednesday for a visit therefore we won't be around to celebrate on her official birthday. This is Taylor helping Clara open her gift from us. Happy Birthday Clara! March Madness I had seen advertisements for the San Jose Regional, but never really thought all that much about it until Selection Sunday when Washington got assigned to the pod and catching the hometown team at a local arena seemed like too much of a coincidence to pass up. Paying a babysitter (our local friends hooked us up with a good one) for the first time ever was justified by the final score and the enjoyment of a great game that included a 15 point comeback and finished with a last second shot.

Fun in the Sun! This weekend we had great weather so we took advantage of it and played outdoors. Saturday we took the girls to Six Flags in Vallejo, CA (a little over an hour away). Unfortunately in our excitement to get in the park we forgot the camera in the car so no park pictures. =( However, we bought season passes so I'm sure pictures will make the blog sometime in the future. Sunday afternoon we took the girls to the beach. Our neighbor was telling me he has seen a lot of star fish at this specific beach so we set out in hopes to see star fish, but no luck. Oh well, we still had a wonderful afternoon exploring tidal pools, wading in the water, walking in the sand, and soaking up the sun. Fancy Nancy Tea Party One of the events we packed in while we were home for the weekend was a tea party that was extraordinary! (That's a fancy word for special.) The Tacoma Library put on a Fancy Nancy tea party for little girls. Taylor enjoys all of the Fancy Nancy books. http://www.fancynancybooks.com/ Grandma, Taylor, and Mommy looking posh! (That's a fancy word for fancy.) Taylor wanted me to dress up in a dress (we compromised on a skirt), high heels, and jewelry. Taylor with her name tag that says "Bonjour" which means hello in French. Nancy LOVES French, everything sounds fancy in French. All of the girls were decked out in sunglasses, boas, jewelry, dresses, etc. They were VERY adorable. (That's a fancy word for cute.) First there was story time, a Fancy Nancy book of course! Cowboy Up We snuck home this weekend and tried to pack in as much as possible. Yesterday we headed south to a horse gaming competition and entered Taylor as their youngest competitor ever - Grandpa showed her how it was done She borrowed a friend's saddle; Grandpa's Scott's horse, DeeDee; and let/made Anna lead her around the arena in 5 different events. Grandpa Scott, Laura, and Laura's Marge were her biggest fans. Even Hailey was inspired and had to get a taste of the action in the saddle Taylor with all her ribbons - She should of sent at least half home with Anna, she couldn't have done it without her.
