A couple of Firsts

Image
A full social calendar - Hannah has knocked out her first doctor's appointment, she attended her 1st birthday party, and enjoyed her 1st holiday.   At 5 days old Hannah celebrated her first Valentine's Day. She was pretty cute in her outfit. After Hannah lost the remainder of the umbilical cord it time for that 1st bath. She wasn't so sure about bath time as the picture below captures pretty well. There was definitely some crying, but overall it wasn't too bad of a time. Her hair dried a little curly and fluffy but quickly straightened out.   Random fact from her 2nd check-up- Hannah has an umbilical hernia. Usually they are no big deal and it should heal on its own. Looks like a super outie. Nothing was every said about it, but comparing pictures with Hailey she might have had one too, her belly button looked the same for her 1st month.       Taking opinions - Which pho...

The Delivery Room

This post is a little out of order, but I thought I'd take you back to the hospital - These are a few of my favorite moments in the delivery room. It was such a joy to watch the kids meet Hannah for the first time. The nurses were very patient with our introductions and seemed to enjoy watching the kid's excitement as much as we did.       Hannah is 5 days old now! She is down to 6lbs 15oz - SO TINY!!! I doubt that will last long. She's a champion eater and so far a good sleeper.

She's Home

We got home last night and reconnected with the kids a little before she turned 1. The kids took the opportunity to sing and celebrate the conclusion of her 1st day of life. Thanks to Ken and Marilyn who have filled in so well as parents for the other kiddos these past 2 days. Ralph and Vicki who greeted our arrival home with a nice warm meal. A little careful scooping by Tabitha, but so enjoyable the kids ate a meal with broccoli without a single complaint. =)

Four kids was not my plan – our BABY was 4, we were long out of diapers, our kids are GREAT sleepers, all are in school now – yes, going back to a baby was not my plan... I was thankful for the family God had given us and thought it was complete. Early in pregnancy as extra hormones raged and I emotionally tried to get on board with another child joining our family I struggled. In my struggles I wrestled with combating my fears and selfishness with truth from God’s Word. Psalm 127:3 kept running through my mind, “Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.” This truth was humbling and confusing because I was given a gift I didn’t know I wanted, the complete opposite struggle of so many. So my prayer very early in this pregnancy was, “Lord, please help me to truly believe...
